Myiasis is one of the most disturbing skin conditions known to science. It occurs when certain types of fly larvae, commonly known as maggots, infest and grow inside the skin or tissue of a human or animal. This condition usually begins when a fly lays its eggs on open wounds, mosquito bites, or even intact skin. Once the eggs hatch, the tiny larvae burrow into the tissue, where they begin to grow.
